Size Guide

Mattes Square Saddle Pads

  • Measurement A-B (Back Length) - Measure along the spine of the pad, from front to back.
  • Measurement C-D (Depth) - Measure from the top to the bottom of the pad..
  • Measurement E-F (Sheepskin Area) - The measurement will show you where the sheepskin underside will come to, if you choose any option with sheepskin that sits underneath the pad.
  • Measurement G-H (Width) - Measure half way down your current pad from front to back.
  • If you require sheepskin on the top, please allow 3cm overlap for each section when measuring for the correct length A-B (e.g. if you want front and back top sheepskin and your pad is 58cm long, deduct 6cm so 52cm is the space you can fit your saddle into.)

The Mattes Square Sheepskin Saddle Pad is the ultimate in personalized saddle pads. Manufactured from the best quality materials and a choice of luxurious coloured sheepskins. If you want to choose your own colour, you are able to design and have a sheepskin saddle pad made to your exact order. There is even a pink saddle pad!

MATTES Equestrian uses quilted fabric made from a high-quality cotton/polyester blend, which is strong but flexible. The Sheepskin is very dense and dyed at Matte’s own tannery in Germany.

Mattes Equestrian designed the core of the saddle blanket in two layers: POLY-FLEX ® (a needle-punched needled felt) is used for shape retention and pressure equalization, and polyester wadding is for padding. Mattes completely do without foam, neoprene, and gel. Therefore, the whole structure is fully air permeable.

This Saddle Pad includes the Mattes CORRECTION ® system, with 4 pockets (2 on each side) made from (POLY-FLEX ® ) each pocket has 3 Felt Pads to aid in the precise adjustment of the fit for the saddle.

MATTES has developed the CORRECTION ® system to allow adjustments to the saddle position flexibly, easily and up to 30 mm: To correct for the rapid physical development of young horses in training, in horses after a long service life, or in trained horses, during change the tournament season a lot, just when fast changes have to be made up for.
