We don’t sell mass-produced, generic items. Instead, we specialise in custom horse tack, made to your specifications using the same premium Italian leather we sourced when the business first began. Ordering custom horse tack might sound complex, but we’ve made it as easy and intuitive as possible. Each product on our website has its own step-by-step customisation tool, allowing you to choose your preferred leather colour, padding, stitching, crystals, and fittings, in respect of our leather goods and the style, quilt material, sheepskin, binding, ropes, and accessories in respect of Mattes Saddle pads, girths, blankets, boots and ear bonnets.
Our software provides detailed guidance and updated images at every step, so you’ll know exactly what your item will look like before placing your order. You can even choose your horse’s coat colour to preview how the design will look in real life. If you have any questions along the way, our team is always available to help, whether by email, WhatsApp, phone, or live chat, whatever suits you best.
You’re in control from the very beginning. Start by selecting your product, whether it’s a bridle, girth, saddle pad, browband, or even a matching dog collar. Then simply choose your preferred style, size, colours, and any additional options or accessories. As you customise, the image updates in real time, so you can see exactly how your design will look before you order.

We even offer matching sets if you want a cohesive look across your entire tack setup. Every design choice is shown in real time through preview imagery, so there’s no guesswork involved.
Because each item is made to order, production times can vary. On average, please allow 3–6 weeks for manufacturing and dispatch. Certain custom elements or international orders may take slightly longer. For orders that are classed as short order e.g. in stock but kept in the warehouse, please allow 2 weeks for the item to get to us. For items that we hold in stock, please allow up to 7 days.

Q: Can I change my custom order after it’s been placed?
A: We allow changes to custom orders within the first 48 hours, so it’s important to double-check your selections before confirming. After this period, your order may already be in the production queue, with materials sourced or cut to specification. If you do need to make a change, please contact us as soon as possible — we’ll always do our best to help where we can.
Q: Can I cancel my order?
A: Custom and short order items cannot be cancelled once 48 hours have passed from the time of ordering. After this point, your order will have been submitted to the manufacturer.
Please note this policy still applies even if the item takes longer than the estimated delivery timeframe, as delays can sometimes occur due to factors outside our control.
Q: Are all your products custom-made?
A: The majority of our products are made to order to each customer’s specifications. However, we do keep some items in stock, and certain standard colours in the Mattes range are available on short order directly from their warehouse.
You’ll find a “Delivery & Returns” tab on each product page, which clearly explains whether an item is custom-made, short order, or in stock, along with the estimated shipping times. If an item is in stock, we typically dispatch it within a few days, most UK deliveries arrive within 7 days, while international orders may take a little longer.
Q: How do I purchase from your site?
A: For in-stock, short-order, or sale items, simply click on the product, select any available options, and add it to your basket.
For custom items, click the “Design Yours Today” button. This will open our configurator, where you can build your item to your exact specifications and preview the design in real time.
Once you’re happy with the design, click “Add to Cart.” Your basket will then display the item along with a preview image and a full breakdown of your selected options, ready for you to review and check out as normal.
Q: What if I’m unsure about sizing?
A: We’re happy to help. Send us a photo of the existing tack, together with measurements (see our measuring and size guide) and, in the case of girths, a picture of your horse or pony, and we’ll guide you on measuring correctly and selecting the right size.
Q: Are your products suitable for competition use?
A: Absolutely. Our tack is used by both amateur and professional riders, and many designs meet affiliated competition standards.
Q: Can I order matching tack sets?
A: Yes! You can customise matching browbands, bridles, girths, and more, creating a unique look for your horse.
