Size Guide

Mattes Numnah

  • Measurement A-B (Back Length) - Measure along the spine of the pad, from front to back.
  • Measurement C-D (Depth) - Measure from the top to the bottom of the pad..
  • Measurement E-F (Sheepskin Area) - The measurement will show you where the sheepskin underside will come to, if you choose any option with sheepskin that sits underneath the pad.
  • Measurement G-H (Width) - Measure half way down your current pad from front to back.
  • If you require sheepskin on the top, please allow 3cm overlap for each section when measuring for the correct length A-B (e.g. if you want front and back top sheepskin and your numnah is 58cm long, deduct 6cm so 52cm is the space you can fit your saddle into.)

If you seek a show jumping numnah tailored to your precise requirements, look no further than the Mattes Numnah. Individually crafted to order using the finest velvet, cotton, or cotton sheen fabric materials, available in over 60 base colors, these pads offer a high level of customization—from ropes/trims and bindings to the shape and color of the sheepskin.

While Mattes jumping numnah’s are versatile with or without sheepskin, many opt for front, rear, and underside sheepskin due to its ability to absorb moisture and ensure even temperature over the horse’s skin. The Merino Lambskin used in all Mattes products is a natural choice, providing excellent moisture absorption and pressure distribution.

Designed to fit snugly under your jumping saddle, the Mattes numnah features a two-layer core made from POLY-FLEX® for shape retention and pressure equalization, and polyester wadding for padding. Mattes avoids the use of foam, neoprene, or gel, resulting in a frictionless and fully breathable structure.

The SPINEFREE® design prevents pressure on the withers and spine, while the SADDLE-FIX® secure fastening system ensures the center strip of the numnah stays securely in the saddle compartment.

For those anticipating changes in their horse’s shape, Mattes offers the CORRECTION® system. Available for all Mattes pads, including the Mattes jumping numnah, this system allows flexible and easy adjustments to the saddle position, up to 30 mm.
