Size Guide

Mattes Numnah

  • Measurement A-B (Back Length) - Measure along the spine of the pad, from front to back.
  • Measurement C-D (Depth) - Measure from the top to the bottom of the pad..
  • Measurement E-F (Sheepskin Area) - The measurement will show you where the sheepskin underside will come to, if you choose any option with sheepskin that sits underneath the pad.
  • Measurement G-H (Width) - Measure half way down your current pad from front to back.
  • If you require sheepskin on the top, please allow 3cm overlap for each section when measuring for the correct length A-B (e.g. if you want front and back top sheepskin and your numnah is 58cm long, deduct 6cm so 52cm is the space you can fit your saddle into.)

Mattes Equestrian Luxury Shaped velvet Sheepskin Numnahs offer hundreds of possible combinations of colours, trims and cords and premium sheepskin, you can even customize the velcro straps! More than just beautiful design, these numnahs have a range of practical additions to aid in correct saddle fit.

Available as a dressage, general purpose or jumping numnah, Mattes contoured pads use wear-resistant velvet available in a choice of 16 different colours.

Mattes SPINEFREE ® design reliably prevents any pressure on the withers and spine, each pad has a cut-out area along the spine, that is regular width, or can be ordered with an Extra wide wither Area for horses and ponies that have a prominent/high wither area or are ridden with a saddle that has a wide gullet. With the secure fastening system SADDLE-FIX ®, the center strip of the numnah can be easily fixed in the saddle compartment.

Mattes Equestrian designed the core of the saddle blanket in two layers: POLY-FLEX ® (a needle-punched needled felt) is used for shape retention and pressure equalization, and polyester wadding is for padding. They completely do without foam, neoprene and gel. Therefore, the whole structure is fully air permeable.

Contoured pads can be ordered with the CORRECTION ® system, optionally with a single or a double bag; Each bag comes with three felt inserts (POLY-FLEX ® ), each 5 mm thick, with print properties that match those of a good new saddle padded with wool and horsehair. MATTES has developed the CORRECTION ® system to allow adjustments to the saddle position flexibly, easily and up to 30 mm:

To correct for the rapid physical development of young horses in training, in horses after a long service life, or in trained horses, during change the tournament season a lot, just when fast changes have to be made up for. By reinforcing the insoles, or just as importantly reducing them, when the change demands it. Very important is the compensation for permanent irregularities in the physique. These should never be corrected with a change to the saddle itself!
