Mattes Standard Cotton Sheen Western Round Saddle Pad
The standard Cotton Sheen Western Round Saddle pad is so named because of it’s signature rounded shape. The Round pad looks great under most western saddles. Each Saddle pad has detachable lambskin and optional correction pockets, up to three on each side. The Saddle Pad is available in sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL.
The Cotton Sheen pad as the name suggests is made from a pretty but durable cotton sheen/polyester blend quilted fabric. The quilt is the same pattern as used on velvet saddle pads and has a lovely sheen appearance. There is a choice of 38 different quilt colours and once you include the trim options, there is an unlimited number of combinations. The Standard Cotton Sheen Western Round saddle pad is also available in hard-wearing velvet or standard cotton quilt.
The standard cotton sheen round western saddle pad differs to Rio Pecos Saddle Pads because the sheepskin is not detachable. The upside is that the overall cost of the pad is less. The downside is that you are unable to detach the sheepskin for cleaning or purchase a replacement.
The SPINEFREE® design reliably prevents any pressure around the withers and spine.
The core of Mattes Western Saddle Pads are made of two layers: POLY-FLEX® (a deep-needled polyester felt) is used to maintain the shape and spread the pressure, while polyester wadding provides padding and allows air to flow through the fabric. We completely avoid foam, neoprene or gel, making the whole pad breathable.
Standard Cotton Sheen round Western Saddle Pads are available with the CORRECTION® System on request, with a choice of one or three pockets; we supply three 5 mm-thick felt shims (POLY-FLEX®) for each pocket, offering the same pressure relief as a good quality new saddle, padded with wool and horsehair.
MATTES developed the CORRECTION® system to allow flexible and easy changes to saddle fit by up to 30 mm: to easily compensate for the rapid physical development of young horses in training, for horses that have been out of work for some time, or for trained horses which change shape a lot during the competition season, whenever quick alterations are needed.
