The Baroque Spanish Saddle Pad is designed in order to flatter the beautiful carriage of spanish breed horses, with their strong compact bodies and elegant raised gaites, this is the perfect pad to accentuate it. Mattes have designed the Baroque Spanish Saddle Pad to fit English Saddles, though we can also order it for Spanish Saddles if required, the spanish style is a little longer and comes with underside sheepskin option only.

Size Guide

Mattes Baroque Saddle Pads

  • Measurement A-B (Back Length) - Measure along the spine of the pad, from front to back.
  • Measurement C-D (Depth) - Measure from the top to the bottom of the pad..
  • Measurement E-F (Sheepskin Area) - The measurement will show you where the sheepskin underside will come to, if you choose any option with sheepskin that sits underneath the pad.
  • Measurement G-H (Width) - Measure half way down your current pad from front to back.
  • Measurement I-J (Skirt Depth) - This is a deeper flare than most other Baroque Style Pads so please ensure that this measurement is suitable for your horse. It is taken from the top of the pad at the back, to the lower-most point of the Skirt.
  • If you require sheepskin on the top, please allow 3cm overlap for each section when measuring for the correct length A-B (e.g. if you want front and back top sheepskin and your pad is 58cm long, deduct 6cm so 52cm is the space you can fit your saddle into.)

Baroque Spanish Saddle Pads

Made from only the best materials you have the opportunity to match custom saddle pads with your favourite colours, your equestrian team, the latest seasonal palette, your horses tack, or even your riding wear.

Mattes SPINEFREE ® design reliably prevents any pressure on the withers and spine. With the secure fastening system SADDLE-FIX ®, the center strip of the saddle blanket can be easily fixed in the saddle compartment.

Mattes Equestrian design the core of the saddle blanket in two layers: POLY-FLEX ® (a needle-punched needled felt) is used for shape retention and pressure equalization, polyester wadding for padding. We completely do without foam, neoprene and gel. Therefore, the whole structure is fully air permeable.

The saddlecloth can be ordered with the CORRECTION ® system, optionally with a single or a double bag; Each bag comes with three felt inserts (POLY-FLEX ® ), each 5 mm thick, with print properties that match those of a good new saddle padded with wool and horsehair.

MATTES has developed the CORRECTION ® system to allow adjustments to the saddle position flexibly, easily and up to 30 mm: To correct for rapid physical development of young horses in training, in horses after a long service life, or in trained horses, during change the tournament season a lot, just when fast changes have to be made up for. By reinforcing the insoles, or just as important to reducing them, when the change demands it. Very important is the compensation of permanent irregularities in physique. These should never be corrected with a change to the saddle itself!
